I love this beautiful mandala pattern on the base of this market bag!
And I have made this bag several times now but could not resist this lovely variegated cotton yarn which is soft grey and white with just a touch of pink scattered throughout. The yellow one I previously crocheted made me think of lemons and this one makes me think of a bag full of multi-coloured balls of yarn… just begging to be piled in!
This time I made the bag exactly according to the pattern, counting the stitches and concentrating hard on the seam to line it up perfectly. I would have loved to make an extra row around the handle but there wasn’t enough yarn and it was a toss up between buying another ball for one more row or leaving well alone. “Leave alone” won.
It is an easy pattern to follow and is available below:
- Lily Sugar’n Cream Cotton 10 ply yarn, see here
- Lily Sugar and Cream Ombre is a natural, soft and absorbent worsted weight yarn of 100% cotton, that comes in a range of colourful, pretty prints. Long-lasting and with fun, variegated colour prints, this is an ideal yarn for hats, scarves, vests, ponchos, shawls, blankets, cardigans and jumpers… and now market bags!
